Beginners Biblical Hebrew Part 1 2025
Why learn Biblical Hebrew? Because it’s the language God used to reveal Himself to the world! The Beginners Biblical Hebrew course is designed for students who have little or no knowledge of Hebrew. Classes consist of learning the alphabet, basic vocabulary and grammar, and exercises using common biblical words and verses. Weekly homework exercises are reviewed at the start of each class.
Course Outline & Student Outcomes
Beginners Biblical Hebrew Part 1 2025 is the first of a two-year course series on Biblical Hebrew. It is followed by Beginners Biblical Hebrew Parts 2, 3 and 4 in 2025, and Intermediate Biblical Hebrew Parts 1-4 in 2026. The course is designed for people with limited time to spare for learning a new language, and focuses on teaching students to read Biblical Hebrew as quickly as possible.
The weekly classes have the following structure: Review homework from previous week, introduce & discuss new material, read aloud in class, and introduce homework for the next week. There are also periodic revision classes and assessment tasks.
By the end of the course, the student will have gained the following outcomes:
Reading and writing the Alphabet including final forms
Vowels, the Sheva and Syllabification
The Restraining Garment, Dagesh and Gutturals
The Noun and introduction to sentence structure
The Verb in the Perfect Tense
The Definite Article

Course Instructor
The course is taught by Eleanor Miles. Eleanor holds a BA in Biblical Literature from Oral Roberts University, and is currently working on a Master of Divinity in Messianic Judaism from the Feinberg program at Talbot School of Theology. Eleanor has taught Biblical Hebrew in Australia and the USA for many years. Eleanor works with the ministry of Celebrate Messiah in Canberra, co-pastoring Hineh Yeshua Messianic Congregation.
