- The Cup of Redemption – “I will redeem you with an outstretched arm”.
- the Cup of Praise – “I will take you as my own people and I will be your God”.
The Matzah Cover has three compartments labeled כהן (Cohen), לוי (Levi), ישראל (Israel) – see below for explanation.
Approximate Diameter: 19 3/4 inches | 50 cm
In Jewish tradition, this 3-in-1 pouch is said to represent the 3 Patriachs – Abraham, Isaac and Jacob OR the 3 kinds of People of Israel – the Priests, the Levites and the Israelites (the masses).
Messianic believers suggest this is a representation of the triune nature of God – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
At the beginning of the Seder meal, the middle matzah is broken in two. One half is put back in the matzah tash; the other half is wrapped in the white satin napkin, known as the Afikomen, and hidden away. This hidden matzah will reappear at the conclusion of the Passover meal.
Matzah is the traditional unleavened bread eaten at Pesach (Passover). The Passover meal, called a Seder, is commemorated with the eating of Matzah because the ancient Hebrews had no time to let their bread leaven before fleeing Egypt.
