Description
Tabernacles and Temple: God in Our Midst
Course Summary:
This course explores God’s dwelling places throughout Scripture, from the Tabernacle of Moses to the prophetic temples of the future. We will examine the structures, worship systems, and theological meanings of each dwelling place of God. Special attention is given to prophetic passages that describe the Third and Fourth Temples and their role in end-time events. By the end of the course, learners will understand how each “house of God” points toward Yeshua and the restoration of all things.
Course Outline:
Throughout the biblical narrative, God consistently reveals Himself through sacred spaces—tents, temples, and future sanctuaries that reflect His desire to dwell among His people. This course begins with the foundational pattern given in the wilderness: the Tabernacle of Moses. Students will study its furniture, design, priestly system, and sacrifices, discovering how every element communicates God’s holiness and the path to relationship with Him.
The course then journeys into Israel’s historic temples, examining the First Temple built by Solomon and the Second Temple restored under Zerubbabel and later expanded by Herod. We will compare the worship practices, structural differences, and cultural contexts of these temples, noting their significance in Israel’s national life and in the ministry of Yeshua. The Tabernacle of David will also be explored as a unique period of open-access worship that anticipates later realities.
The final sessions focus on the prophetic future. Students will study biblical texts that describe a coming Third Temple associated with end-time events in Daniel, 2 Thessalonians, and Revelation. We then transition to Ezekiel’s vision of the Fourth Temple—an expansive millennial sanctuary marked by restored worship, renewed land, and a river flowing with life.
Throughout the journey, the course unpacks the role of worship and sacrifice from Leviticus to Ezekiel, showing how the entire temple story ultimately finds fulfillment in Christ. By tracing God’s dwelling places from past to future, students gain a deeper understanding of God’s redemptive plan and His desire to dwell within His created humanity forever.
