Description
Biblical Hebrew from First Words to Fluent Reading (Part 4 2026) (Live Online Course)
Why learn Biblical Hebrew? Because it is the language God used to communicate with us in three-quarters of the Bible. Join us as we explore Hebrew’s powerful and profound linguistic features, and continue to read the book of Ruth. Biblical Hebrew from First Words to Fluent Reading Part 4 builds on language skills gained in Parts 1 to 3 and is designed for students with some prior knowledge of Hebrew.
In Part 4 we will examine the distinctive structure of the Biblical Hebrew sentence, focusing on features such as the Qal Imperfect (future tense) strong and weak verb, and verbless sentences. The weekly homework exercises are accompanied by worked-out answers to guide the students towards confident fluency. Our ‘Hebrew Gems’ articles will continue to examine grammatical points in biblical texts to reveal new insights into God’s Word. The course is further enriched by fully translated Hebrew worship songs, and regular quizzes to embed the vocabulary for confident and efficient learning.
The course comprises weekly tutorial and lecture sessions, and students are expected to spend a further 2 to 3 hours revising the material and completing the homework. The sessions have the following structure: Review homework from the previous week, read aloud in class, discuss new material, and introduce homework for the next week. Biblical Hebrew from First Words to Fluent Reading Part 4 is the fourth of a ten-part series on Biblical Hebrew, and will run for 10 weeks in Term 4. It will be followed by Parts 5 to 10 in 2027 and 2028.
Classes will be taught over Zoom each Monday night, 12 Oct – 14 Dec 2026 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (AEDT).
