Dear friend,
Shalom in the name of Jesus!
Wow! It is exciting to enter our 124th year of ministry among the Jewish people. We started in 1894…and my usual joke is—“I am not the founder!”
I just heard the most amazing story from one of our Brooklyn missionaries about an encounter with a young Jewish man who came to the United States from Russia. It seems that he tried living an Orthodox Jewish life, but it left him unsatisfied. One of our staff had the opportunity to speak with him when he dropped by the Charles Feinberg Messianic Center —our beautiful facility in the heart of Orthodox Jewish Brooklyn. This young man is eager to study the Bible with our staff and even attend services!
The above story is typical of what happens each week through Chosen People Ministries’ work in seventeen countries around the globe and in twenty-five cities in North America! And we are thrilled with what God is doing. Our ministry is still built upon our missionary staff sharing the Gospel heart to heart and person to person…day in and day out!
Aside from the power of the Holy Spirit, we need three elements to make our ministry effective.
- First of all, we need called, committed, and well-trained missionaries. Chosen People Ministries has more missionaries with seminary degrees than any other Jewish mission in the world—not because we believe seminary makes a minister, but, rather, that good training is so helpful to those who are dedicated to the task of Jewish evangelism.
- We also need good facilities, like our Brooklyn, Jerusalem, Florida, and Manhattan centers where we can have our Bible studies, services, staff gatherings, administration, and all that it takes to make this work strong and stable! From the above story, you can see how God uses our presence in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood for His glory!
- Finally, we need you—our friend, prayer partner, and supporter! We could not do this work without your partnership.
We have a need I want to tell you about and I pray that you will consider giving a generous gift to help us. Our Manhattan facility requires some essential maintenance. We must replace a section of our roof (no easy task in Manhattan!), and in the course of applying for the plans, we discovered some asbestos that must also be removed. Nothing terrible, but enough that our staff will need to move out of our Manhattan Center to temporary offices for at least six weeks this spring.
The entire project will cost around $300,000 and we could really use your help.
Would you be willing to give generously toward our Manhattan renovation project? I know it is not the most intriguing request for funds, but I am sure you would agree that good facilities, when used well, can produce wonderful ministry opportunities, and this is true of our Manhattan, Brooklyn, Jerusalem, and other facilities. But, we must maintain them properly. And remember, there are still almost two million Jewish people in New York City—and so we must be there!
Would you help? Whatever you give will be multiplied by the gifts of others who will share the burden with us.
I view our facilities as gifts from God, and we are His stewards over what He has entrusted to us.
Thanks so much for your prayers and support!
Mitch
