Iran Threatens Deadly Retaliation if Attacked by Israel The Commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guard expressed his desire for Israel to attack Iran, so they could retaliate and destroy Israel, which they call the "enemy of Islam and Muslims." There is speculation that Israel will strike Iran's nuclear facilities if Iran continues to defy international demands to reveal the activities in its nuclear program. "It is one of our biggest wishes that the Zionist regime would make such a move," said the Iranian Commander, stating that Iran would throw Israel into the "trash bin of history." (Haaretz) Please pray for safety and wisdom in dealing with Iran's nuclear activities, as this dangerous situation affects the entire world!
Dwindling Support for Israel in White House During the past year, the White House has lost a number of staff members who have a deep personal knowledge of the situation in Israel and who care about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Rahm Emanuel is now mayor of Chicago, Dan Shapiro is now the Ambassador to Israel, and Dennis Ross, Obama’s senior advisor on the Middle East, will be leaving office. These personnel changes leave Israel without a solid contact within the White House. (YNet) Please pray for suitable leaders to advocate for Israel within the White House. Young Jewish Leaders Meet in Buenos Aires Fifty young Jewish leaders and innovators from sixteen countries gathered in Argentina to discuss Jewish life in the modern world. They stated, "We need a Jewish Spring that transforms the Jewish world into a more inclusive and welcoming home for anyone who wants to be Jewish." This includes new ways to express Judaism, encouraging participation and promoting diversity. The attendees of this gathering are leaders in arts, media, technology, education, environmental issues, and many other areas; this conference was an important step in ensuring the continued vibrancy of Jewish life in the present and future. (JTA) Please pray for spiritual receptivity in these Jewish young leaders who can have so much influence in the worldwide Jewish community! 4,000 Chabad Representatives Gather for Conference The ultra-orthodox movement, Chabad, hosted its annual conference in Brooklyn, New York, near their headquarters where their esteemed spiritual leader, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, once taught. Representatives from 77 countries attended the conference, which included lectures, workshops, and a visit to Schneerson's grave. At the end of the conference, the 4,000 representatives dined at the largest sit-down dinner in New York City. (JPost) Please pray for the salvation of Chabad Jewish people, as they are zealous for the Lord but are missing the Messiah. Bridge Replacement Delayed Prime Minister Netanyahu has delayed the dismantling of the bridge connecting the Western Wall Plaza in Jerusalem's Old City to the Temple Mount. According to messages from Egypt and Jordan, the bridge's destruction might inflame unrest, leading protestors in Egypt's Tahrir Square to focus their anger on Israel. The bridge has been deemed unsafe and another bridge will be built in its place, allowing safer passage to the Temple Mount. The Muslim religious authority in charge of the Temple Mount says that the demolition is part of an Israeli plot to damage the Al-Aqsa Mosque. (Haaretz) Please pray for a peaceful resolution to this sensitive topic in the heart of Israel. Palestinian Attackers Get Life in Prison Last year, Susan Kaye Wilson and her friend Kristine Luken, both strong believers in Jesus who served with local ministries, were hiking in the Judean Hills when they were attacked by two Palestinian men. The men stabbed both women, killing Luken and leaving Wilson gravely injured. The attackers have recently been sentenced to life in prison. (JTA) Please pray for the family of Kristine Luken as they mourn, and for Susan Kaye Wilson as she continues to recover from her physical and emotional wounds. Tel Aviv Café Outreach Kicks off Third Year Chosen People Ministries' café outreach to Israeli young adults recently celebrated its third year of operation in downtown Tel Aviv. The café, which offers free coffee and snacks, has become a social hotspot, providing an environment where seekers can meet and talk with believers while listening to great music. We look forward to new faces, new musicians, and more people coming to know the Lord through this amazing outreach! |
